How therapy works…

There are a variety of approaches to the way therapists work with their clients, but one thing all effective therapy shares is a warm, non-judgemental, empathic and supportive relationship between you and your counsellor.

I focus on supporting you in a compassionate way, we will work together to find your unique strengths, to help you make sense of what is happening in your life.

As a pluralistic therapist I provide a wide range of therapies, and I will customise your therapy around your choices, interests, and what works best for you. You can find more information about this approach here. This method of therapy recognises that different things work for different people at different times in their life.

My approach - your therapy, your way.

Aberdeenshire therapy for anxiety, bereavement, menopause and more

At times in the sessions, I may encourage you to talk about your deepest feelings and difficult thoughts. This may be done in straightforward discussion, or we may bring in more creative ways to work together if you prefer.

This part can be challenging but it can let you find insight into your life and relationships, and help you process traumatic experiences. As a result, you can find new and lasting ways to think, behave and manage your feelings.

I will guide and prepare you to safely experience deeper feelings, through teaching you skills such as grounding techniques to manage difficult feelings.
